Apply the acquired theoretical knowledge and practical skills to study natural and social territorial systems at different levels of spatial organization, including the transboundary level (PR01) Communicate freely on professional and scientific issues in a foreign language (PR03) Conduct research and/or carry out innovative activities in order to obtain new knowledge, develop new methods and procedures in geography and interdisciplinary contexts, including issues of nature conservation, restoration and protection of landscapes and biodiversity (PR04) Be able to identify, pose and solve scientific and applied problems, critically evaluate decisions made, including in the context of the transboundary level of nature protection (PR05). Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know about the use of international environmental treaties. 2. Know the key principles of specialized geographical disciplines. 3. Know the environmental legislation of Ukraine. 4. Know the basic landscape and ecological definitions in English. 5. Understand the causes of climate change and the principles of decarbonization of the economy.
Course content
The course examines the theoretical foundations and political prerequisites for the implementation of the Green Deal policy by the European Union, its components, as well as prospects and possible challenges for Ukraine. The course consists of three content parts. The first content part analyzes the main historical and political prerequisites for the implementation of the European Green Deal, its components and regulatory and legal support. The second content part analyzes the specifics of the implementation of the Green Deal in Ukraine, in particular, the prerequisites for joining the course, possible options for its implementation, as well as the national legislation that regulates it. The third content part examines the necessary transformations of the Ukrainian economy in the context of the implementation of the European Green Deal, the potential consequences for Ukraine of the implementation of the course by neighboring countries, as well as new opportunities associated with the use of "green" hydrogen for the decarbonization of the Ukrainian economy. The academic discipline "European and Ukrainian Green Course" is one of the components of the comprehensive training of higher education applicants for the "Master's" degree in the specialty "106 Geography" of the educational program "Transborder Environmental Cooperation".
