P01. Know, understand and be able to use in practice the basic concepts from the theory of physical geography, landscape ecology, as well as worldview sciences. P03. Explain the peculiarities of the organization of geographical space depending on its physical and geographical features, features of the landscape structure. P07. Determine the main characteristics, processes, history and composition of the landscape shell and its components. P016. Identify factors that determine the formation of landscape and biological diversity at different spatiotemporal levels. P01. Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Be able to analyze the features of natural and anthropogenic processes in the geographical envelope, be able to carry out a comprehensive assessment of the state of geocomponents and predict changes in them; 2. Know the main features of the functioning of natural geosystems that are affected by anthropogenic activity; principles and methods of ensuring sustainable development of territories; 3. Know modern quantitative and qualitative methods of geographical research, be able to apply them in production and scientific research activities; be able to model objects and processes using modern quantitative and qualitative methods and geoinformation technologies.
Course content
This academic discipline is dedicated to the study of natural and anthropogenic processes that determine the state of the environment and the main geoecological problems in the Balkan-Anatolian region, primarily the causes of their occurrence, regional features of their distribution, principles and modern methods used to solve them, etc. The discipline is aimed at forming in students special professional, social and personal competencies, the accumulation of knowledge regarding the possibility of critical thinking, analysis and synthesis, the ability to search, process and analyze information from various sources, the ability to determine, formulate and solve problems in the field of geoecology. Separate components of the discipline are the study of individual geocomponents; anthropogenic factors that play the greatest role in shaping the state of the environment; principles of rational use and protection of landscape components; methods of rational use of natural resources for the purposes of sustainable development.
