Learning outcomes
PLO 8. Evaluate historical achievements and the latest achievements of literary studies.
PLO 10. Collect and systematize linguistic, literary, folklore facts, interpret and translate texts of different styles and genres (depending on the chosen
specialization).
PLO 11. Carry out scientific analysis of linguistic, speech and literary material, interpret and structure it taking into account appropriate
methodological principles, formulate generalizations based on independently processed data.
PLO 15. Choose optimal research approaches and methods for analyzing specific linguistic or literary material.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Know:
• the basics of literary analysis of works of art;
• periodization, main trends of the literary process (material of Ukrainian and foreign literature);
• aesthetic, social factors of influence on literary development.
Be able
• to formulate one's own thoughts and judgments orally and in writing based on theoretical knowledge from the course of the history of Ukrainian and foreign literature;
• to analyze the genre and style features of works;
• to systematize literary facts and phenomena, to give them an objective assessment;
• to independently analyze and research individual aspects of the literary process.
Have elementary skills:
• to determine the genre and style features of the analyzed text, its theme and issues;
• to classify literary works using specific examples;
• to compare aesthetic trends, themes, issues, genre and style features of works;
• to apply the acquired knowledge in practice.
Course content
A kind of prologue to the course will be a discussion on the status, possibilities, purpose, new concepts and methodologies, represented by various comparative schools, based on the latest comparative studies. Within the discipline, we systematize the acquired knowledge about comparative studies and determine the most important changes in the general paradigm of literary comparative studies (directions, range of research), the relevance of new comparative fields - imagology, postcolonial, multicultural studies, as well as new literary concepts and methodologies adapted by leading comparative schools, both European, American, and Ukrainian.

Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system.
The semester final grade is formed by the points received by the student during the semester and the points received in the exam, the maximum distribution is carried out according to the following algorithm: 60 points (60%) - semester control and 40 points (40%) - exam.
The maximum number of points in the exam is 40 points, the minimum number of points (positive assessment), which are added to the semester ones - 24 points.
The exam is conducted in the form of a written paper, the exam ticket consists of two tasks: a theoretical question (50%); a practical question (analysis of a work of art) (50%).
