LO7. Analyze, compare, and classify various trends and schools in Turkish linguistics.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Know:
- the theoretical foundations of the courses “General Linguistics,” “Lexicology of the Turkish Language,” and “Fundamentals of Research in Oriental Studies”;
- the historical development of the Turkish language;
- Turkish grammar at the C1-2 level.
Be able to:
- communicate in Turkish at the C1-2 level;
- work with foreign-language sources, particularly Turkish-language ones;
- acquire new information within the scope of the discipline;
- analyze the lexical composition of the Turkish language;
- plan and evaluate one’s own work;
- apply interactive and multimedia tools.
Possess:
- basic skills in using dictionaries;
- the ability to conduct research;
- the ability to systematize data obtained from various professional sources; a critical approach to the phenomena under analysis;
- the ability to use foreign-language resources.
Course content
The course “Lexicographical Tradition of Turkey” is included in the list of elective courses in Elective Block 1 “Linguistics and a Second Turkic Language” and is taught in the third semester of the master’s program in accordance with the curriculum of the educational and research program “Eastern Philology, Western European Language and Translation: Turkish Language and Literature."
This course aims to provide a comprehensive and in-depth overview of lexicographical studies in Turkey, analyze existing research and identify gaps in this field, and develop skills and competencies in writing dictionary entries, to study the theoretical foundations of creating various types of dictionaries, to analyze existing Turkish dictionaries, to identify current issues in lexicography as a whole, and to propose possible solutions.
Classes are conducted in the form of lectures and practical sessions. The course concludes in the third semester with a final exam

Lectures, practical classes, independent work.
Assessment methods and criteria
The grade is based on the student's performance throughout the semester and does not include additional assessment measures. Students who score a minimum positive score of 60 points receive a "pass" grade. Students who do not score the minimum positive score of 60 points receive a "fail" grade.
Assessment of semester work:
1. Answer at a practical lesson: 12 - 20 points.
2. Supplements, participation in the discussion, blitz survey: 20 - 32 points.
3. Control work with open answers: 12 - 20 points.
4. Research work / creative task: 4 - 8 points.
5. Credit: 12 - 20 points.
