LO2. Demonstrate proficiency in the national and foreign languages for written and oral communication, particularly in professional and academic contexts; present research findings in the national and foreign languages. LO6. Apply knowledge of expressive, emotional, and logical language tools and speech techniques to achieve a planned pragmatic outcome and facilitate successful communication. LO14. Create, analyze, and edit texts of various styles and genres. LO15. Select optimal research approaches and methods for analyzing specific linguistic or literary material. LO19. Apply modern pedagogical methods and technologies in organizing the educational process and methodological work in higher education.

Full-time form

Know: 1) the main trends in the development of modern linguistics, scientific paradigms, and research methods; 2) the main theories and models of communication; the structure of the communication process; the principles of successful and effective communication; strategies and tactics for achieving communication goals; 3) the rhetorical potential of phonetic, lexical, and grammatical means of the English language. Be able to: 1) speak English fluently (at the C1 level) in order to articulate one’s own viewpoint on a given topic in a reasoned and persuasive manner; 2) apply the principles and strategies of effective communication to achieve communication goals, utilizing the rhetorical potential of the phonetic, lexical, and grammatical features of the English language; 3) identify the communication model, structural components, and participants in the communication process.

The content of the program consists of topics, theoretical issues and practical tasks aimed at determining the level of linguistic, communicative and translation competencies of masters. The comprehensive final exam consists of three content blocks: 1) theory of language, text and communication; 2) theory and practice of translation; 3) oral English communication within a predefined topic. The purpose of the final exam is to assess the compliance of the level of knowledge, skills and abilities of students with the requirements for the master's degree by completing a written assignment and an interview with members of the examination committee. The format of the exam is written and oral.

The exam is a comprehensive written and oral test and is conducted in English. Students may use monolingual dictionaries during the exam. The time for completing the written task is 60 minutes (rhetorical analysis of the text, translation of a fragment of the text into Ukrainian and a translation commentary). The exam paper contains 3 questions. The first question involves working with original texts of up to 350 words in length in order to perform rhetorical analysis of the text and linguistic analysis of the proposed linguistic phenomena. The second question involves translating a fragment of the text and performing a translation analysis of your own translation. The third question is an oral interview (without prior preparation) within the framework of the predefined topics of the courses "Communication Strategies", "General Theoretical English", "Academic and Business Speaking and Translation".

Formation of the exam score. The level of master's training at the exam is assessed by a 100-point system: a graduate can score a maximum of 100 points and a minimum positive score of 60 points. The score for the comprehensive final exam is formed by calculating the arithmetic mean score for all three answers of the exam paper multiplied by 10 (coefficient). The time for completing the written task is 60 minutes (rhetorical analysis of the text, linguistic analysis of the linguistic phenomena of the text). An oral interview on the proposed topic is conducted without prior preparation of the student. The exam paper contains three questions: 1. Theoretical question. 2. Rhetorical analysis of the text №1. 3. Translation of a fragment of the text №1.
