Prerequisites and co-requisites
The program is designed for students who have thoroughly studied the history of foreign literature and have an appropriate level of English. The student must know: the basic literary concepts and terms (Shakespearean questions / canon / code / text / thesaurus) and the content of works that make up the "Shakespearean canon"; modern literary methods and methods of analysis of literary text; principles of semiotics, comparative studies, intertextuality; basics of deconstruction theory, analyze works taking into account their ideological and artistic integrity and the author's position; consciously choose the necessary models and methods of literary research.
Course content
The discipline "The Artistic Universe of William Shakespeare: Contemporary Readings" provides students with professionally oriented competence and involves mastering the techniques of holistic, contextual and comparative analysis of literary phenomena, based on a sufficient level of prior knowledge and skills of basic search and analysis of scientific information; modern literary methods of analysis of literary text and basic concepts of textology.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Forms of tuition: lecture, seminar, individual tasks, independent work, and consultations.
Assessment methods and criteria
The grade is formed as the sum of points gained in the in-process evaluations of academic progress which weigh of up to 100% of the course grade: 70 for oral answers in seminars, 10 for writing an abstract of an English-language article, and 20 for writing an essay and presenting it in the class. No summative assessment activity is required. A student who has obtained minimum of 60 points is granted a successful completion of the course. If a student does not attain a minimum grade of 60 points he or she is required to submit the assignments set for this course.
