Learning outcomes
PLO 3. To apply modern methods and technologies, including information technologies, for the successful and effective professional activities and ensuring the quality of research in the field of Spanish linguistics and translation.
PLO 5. To find optimal ways for effective interaction in the professional community and with representatives of other professional groups at various levels.
PLO 7. Analyse, compare and classify different areas and scientific schools in linguistics.
PLO 10. To collect and systematize facts of language and literature, to interpret and translate texts of various styles and genres (depending on the chosen specialization).
PLO 16. To use specialised conceptual knowledge in the field of Spanish linguistics and translation to solve complex problems and problems that require updating and integrating knowledge, often in the face of incomplete/insufficient information and conflicting requirements.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before this course, students are to learn the following subjects: ‘Linguistic Textology and Communicative Practices (Spanish)’, ‘Contrastive Linguistics and Translation (Spanish)’, ‘Methodology of Organising Research on Intellectual Property (Spanish)’, ‘Discourse Studies in Translation (Spanish)’, ‘Sociolinguistics (Spanish)’.
Be able to collect and interpret information regarding linguistic phenomena; be able to identify, pose and solve problems; plan and evaluate one’s own work; apply interactive and multimedia tools.
Possess basic skills in scientific research and information retrieval; a critical
approach to the phenomena under analysis; the use of foreign-language specialist information sources; the translation of spoken and written messages; interaction and cooperation in learning in situations involving research.
Course content
The course is aimed to form students' knowledge about the theoretical foundations of linguoculturology and to enhance their translation skills from Spanish into Ukrainian and from Ukrainian into Spanish, considering the linguocultural specificities of the linguistic worldview of Ukrainians and Spanish-speaking peoples, their socio-cultural behaviour and the way they interpret linguistic units and
linguistic and cultural realities.

Assessment methods and criteria
The semester mark is calculated from the points obtained by the student while studying the material covered in the entire course. The overall mark for the semester comprises points awarded for classroom work (which includes independent study of the course material in preparation for classroom work: oral responses, additions, quick quizzes on the video material studied, tests, and presentation defence) and for independent work (preparation of a presentation). All types of work for the semester are ultimately:
- worth a maximum of 100 marks,
- worth a minimum of 60 marks.
