PLO 3. Apply modern methodologies and technologies, particularly information technologies, to successfully and effectively carry out professional activities and ensure the quality of research in the field of Spanish linguistics and translation. PLO 9. Describe the theoretical foundations (concepts, categories, principles, key terms, etc.) and applied aspects of Spanish linguistics, literary studies and translation. PLO 11. Conduct a scientific analysis of linguistic, speech and literary material, interpret and structure it in accordance with appropriate methodological principles, and formulate generalisations based on independently processed data. PLO 14. Create, analyse and edit texts of various styles and genres. PLO 16. Apply specialised conceptual knowledge in the field of Spanish linguistics

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before commencing this course, students must have successfully completed the theoretical and practical courses in Spanish and linguistic and stylistic text analysis taught over the course of eight semesters of their undergraduate studies. Be able to collect, analyse and interpret information regarding linguistic phenomena; be able to identify, pose and solve problems; plan and evaluate their own work; apply technical tools for the purpose of conducting research and carrying out machine translation. Possess a high level of proficiency in the Ukrainian language; possess skills in oral and written translation from Spanish into Ukrainian and vice versa; adopt a critical approach to the phenomena analysed; utilise Ukrainian-language and foreign-language specialist sources; engage in interaction and cooperation in research-related situations.
Course content
The course develops students’ skills in textual analysis and their ability to produce high-quality translations from Spanish into Ukrainian and vice versa, through the study of the theoretical foundations of comparative-typological linguistics. It forms part of the academic component of the curriculum, preparing future scholars in the field of Spanish translation studies. During the course, students develop a comprehensive system of knowledge regarding methodology, historical development, key figures, academic literature, theoretical foundations, conceptual framework, intercultural communication and translation in the field of comparative typology of the Spanish and Ukrainian languages. Practical skills in comparing the Spanish and Ukrainian languages are applied when editing translated texts and carrying out oral and written translation. Students also learn to use modern technical tools for the purpose of translating and editing texts, in particular electronic dictionaries, translation tools and text editors.

Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control is carried out in accordance with the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level assessment of the material studied, in particular the assessment of theoretical training - learning outcomes (knowledge 1.1 - 1.2), which accounts for 40% of the total grade, and the assessment of practical training - learning outcomes (skills 2.1-2.4; (communication 3.1-3.3); (autonomy and responsibility 4.1-4.5), which accounts for 60% of the total grade. The total number of points in the discipline (maximum 100 points) is determined as the sum of the points for systematic work during the semester, taking into account the final assessment (exam). Thus, the final grade in the discipline (minimum 60, maximum 100 points) is the sum of the number of points for the semester work (minimum 36, maximum 60 points) and the final assessment - the exam (minimum 24, maximum 40 points).
