Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful completion of the general education and specialist modules taught over the two semesters of the Master’s programme. Students must possess research skills, a critical approach to the phenomena analysed, and the ability to use specialist information sources in foreign languages; they must also be able to plan and evaluate their own work.
Course content
The course ‘Master’s Qualification Work’ is included in the list of compulsory courses and is taught in the 3rd and 4th semesters of the Master’s programme (270 hours in total), carrying 12 credits – in accordance with the curriculum of the educational and research programme. Its aim is to deepen students’ skills in independent academic work and broaden their academic outlook, linking these to the chosen theoretical focus of their Master’s thesis. The course is designed to consolidate theoretical knowledge in the field of Francophone linguistics and translation, and to master modern methods and forms of research activity; it develops practical skills and abilities in the course of professional practice.

Writing, evaluation, peer review and public defence of a Master’s work
Assessment methods and criteria
The defence of the Master’s work takes place at a meeting of the Examination Committee in accordance with the established schedule. The defence of the Master’s thesis is open to the public. During the defence, the student delivers a presentation outlining the results of the Master’s thesis research, the relevance of the topic, the structure of the thesis, the subject of the research, and the main theoretical and analytical findings, conclusions from the analysis, the content of the proposed measures, and justification of their effectiveness. In concluding the presentation, the graduate must highlight: their achievements and conclusions that have been implemented or are planned for implementation, and where else, in their opinion, the research results should be applied. The duration of the student’s presentation must not exceed 15 minutes. Members of the Examination Committee may ask the graduate questions to assess the level of their professional training.
