Learning outcomes
PLO16. To apply the principles and methods of scientific inquiry in order to identify problems in the field of scientific and pedagogical activity and propose their solution. PLO19. To be familiar with various linguistic schools and movements (literary schools and trends), critically analyze historical achievements and the latest developments in linguistic (literary) science, and demonstrate one’s own interpretation of literary (linguistic) phenomena. PLO20. To possess the skills of independent research (a project, an education-oriented practical project), summarize and publish the results on a current issue (in professional journals, presentations, teaching guides, etc.). General theoretical training obtained within the framework of bachelor's educational programs.
Course content
This course aims to provide students with knowledge and skills that create the necessary organizational and legal basis for carrying out professional research work, its presentation to the scientific community, protection and commercialization of intellectual property rights to its results. The course is divided into three content modules. The module "Methodology of scientific research" forms an understanding of science as research, introduces the specifically scientific, general scientific and philosophical levels of methodology. The module "Theoretical foundations of philological research" focuses on improving students' knowledge of major linguistic and/or literary trends and their development in domestic and foreign fields, an idea of the variety of methodological approaches in philology at the current stage. The module "Fundamentals of intellectual property" reveals the role of intellectual property as intellectual capital in the socio-economic development of the society and its place in humanities.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course is delivered through lectures, seminars and autonomous work, and teaching methods: problem-solving lecture, project work, research work, academic discussion, academic conversation, multimedia based learning.
Assessment methods and criteria
Formative assessment components include classroom assignments, participation in discussions at lectures and seminars, blitz surveys, tests; projects, presentations. assessment is a sum of the points earned for three content modules. Summative assessment construct includes such learning outcomes (LO): LO 1.1-1.4 (theoretical training), LO 2.1-2.5, 3.1, 4.1 (practical training). The final grade for the course is a sum of the points earned for the formative assessment and summative assessment. It integrates the results of the student's work throughout the entire semester and does not include additional assessment measures.
