Learning Outcome 1. Communicate fluently on professional topics with specialists and non-specialists in the national language and foreign languages (Spanish and English), both orally and in writing, and use these skills to facilitate effective intercultural communication. LLO 9. Characterize dialectal and social varieties of the Spanish and English languages; describe sociolinguistic situations. LLO 10. Know the norms of the standard language and be able to apply them in practical activities. LLO 14. Use Spanish and English in oral and written forms, across various genres, styles, and registers of communication (formal, informal, neutral), to solve communicative tasks in the everyday, social, educational, professional, and scientific spheres of life. LLO 17. Collect, analyze, systematize, and interpret facts about language and speech and use them to solve complex tasks and problems in specialized areas of professional activity and/or study.

Full-time form

1. Possess systematic knowledge of the Spanish language (phonetics, intonation patterns, grammar, vocabulary) not lower than B1+ level. 2. Be able to retell read/listened adapted texts in a foreign language and create their own oral and written texts in a foreign language on a relevant topic; be able to to express their own opinion on the topic and maintain a dialog in a foreign language. 3. Have basic listening and comprehension skills in a written text in a foreign language and understanding the content of a written text in a foreign language; have basic skills of textual analysis.

The discipline belongs to the elective block “Specialized Translation and Interpreting (Spanish, English)” of the educational and professional program. It involves working on grammatical topics from the advanced stage of study (B2/C1 level), expanding the vocabulary of general and special vocabulary (within the scope of the course), familiarizing oneself with the main speech types, analyzing texts of various structural and speech types and mastering the basic written genres of formal communication, further developing skills and abilities to understand the content and abstract original foreign language texts, oral and written.

Practical classes, individual work.

Completion of current homework: from 24 to 40 points per semester; extracurricular reading assignments: from 12 to 20 points in total for the semester; written work: min. 3 points, max. 5 points; oral presentation: min. 3 points, max. 5 points; test: min. 18 points, max. 30 points. Total number of points per semester: max. 100. Semester assessment forms the score of the intermediate control. The points obtained in the discipline are transferred in the percentage equivalent (30% of the points received - from the maximum number of 100 points - 30 points) to the formation of the total score for the semester of the next part of the multi-semester discipline.
