Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful completion of courses such as ""Fundamentals of Literary Studies"", ""Introduction to the Specialty"", ""Poetry Workshop"", ""Prose Workshop"", ""Contemporary Literary Process: Theoretical Aspect"", and ""Folklore Studies"". Knowledge of Ukrainian classical drama, proficiency in basic literary analysis skills, and an interest in theatrical life. Knowledge of basic literary terms and concepts. Proficiency in continuously expanding foundational knowledge of foreign and domestic literature. Ability to apply skills of philological analysis and interpretation to various-genre artistic texts.
Course content
Drama: The aim of the academic discipline is to further acquaint students with the fundamentals of literary creativity, specifically the theory and practice of playwriting. This involves understanding the logic of dramatic genres, mastering the basic laws of dramaturgy, expressing personal ideas in the artistic form of literary works, and developing practical playwriting skills as the foundation for theatrical performance. The discipline includes both practical sessions and independent work aimed at studying practical guides, critically reading contemporary plays, and creative playwriting assignments. Throughout the course, students learn the secrets of constructing dramaturgy, edit their own writing, attend masterclasses by playwrights, directors, and actors, and engage in the initial performance realization of their texts. Translation. Aim: Develop students' theoretical understanding and practical skills in translation to prepare a reserve for enriching our cultural treasury with translations of achievements from world literature and for integrating our culture into the global information space. Abstract: We delve into both the fundamental theoretical principles of translation theory and practical translation skills from different languages. The concepts of adequacy/inadequacy in translation and artistic compensation for inevitable losses at various levels of the text should become clear and practically assimilated for students. This understanding is facilitated through their own translation attempts in different literary genres, types, and genres. The lecture material is accompanied by the analysis of literary texts, mostly representing the pinnacle achievements of Ukrainian and world literature, and their translations. Depending on students' language proficiency, works for translation are selected, representing readings from world literature that either lack Ukrainian interpretations or have outdated versions.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Educational activities throughout the semester: oral and written answers, additions, comments, participation in discussions, creative tasks (own translations, presentations, reviews, annotations), creative exercises, author's text of small form (monologue, sketch, sceneі) and large form (play). Tests, two written works of intermediate control and final control work. The teaching methods: lecture, practical lesson, independent work.
Assessment methods and criteria
The semester's total score is determined by the points earned by the student throughout the course in acquiring the material. The overall evaluation consists of points obtained for in-class activities (which synthesize work during sessions and independent work in processing theoretical material and educational literature to prepare for in-class activities, such as oral responses, contributions, and creative exercises) and for independent work. The grading for а responses is a max. of 3 / min. (for a positive grade) of 2; contributions, participation in discussions - a max. of 2 / min. of 1; creative exercise - a max. of 5 / min. of 3; creative assignment (essay, review) - a max. of 10 / min. of 6; authored text (literary and artistic work) in a short form (monologue, scene) - a max. of 10 / min. of 6; authored text in a long form (play) - a max. of 20 / min. of 12. The course concludes with a pass. The grading scale is as follows: "Passed" – 60-100, "Failed" – 0-59.
