Learning outcomes
PLO 7. To understand the main problems of Hindi philology and approaches to their solution using appropriate methods and innovative approaches.
PLO 8. To know and understand the language system, the general properties of literature as an art of speech, the history of the Hindi language and literature, and to be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities.
PLO 15. To know and understand the basic concepts, theories and concepts of Indology, to be able to apply them in professional activities.
PLO 16. Collect, analyze, systematize, and interpret language and speech facts and use them to solve complex tasks and problems in specialized areas of professional activity and learning.
PLO 17. Have the skills to manage complex activities or projects when solving complex problems in professional, in particular translation, activities in the field of Indology and be responsible for making decisions in unpredictable conditions.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastery of the professional disciplines "Linguistics and Regional Studies of India", "Hindi Language: Basic Level". Knowledge of linguistic terminology and basic laws of language development (from the course "Introduction to Linguistics").
Course content
The purpose of the academic discipline is to form in students a deep professional understanding of the subject, specifics and main tasks of Hindi philology at the present stage, to provide general information about the evolution of Indo-Aryan languages in India, Sanskrit, Middle Indo-Aryan and New Indo-Aryan languages, the history of the Hindi language and writing, problems of the Hindi language, and the history of Hindi literature.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Learning activities comprise interactive lectures and seminar classes. Self-study of the students involves preparation for oral responses, participation in discussions, reports with the analyses of scientific literature, research presentation, precis, summaries.
Assessment methods and criteria
The discipline ends with an exam. Students who have scored less points in total than the critical minimum - 36 points - are not allowed to take the exam. For students who have not reached the threshold level of assessment (36 points) during the semester, in order to be admitted to the exam, it is necessary to work out the missed topics in writing and submit or send them by e-mail to the teacher conducting the seminar classes.
The maximum score for additional forms of assessment cannot exceed 40% of the final grade (up to 40 points on a 100-point scale).
The semester final grade is formed by the points received by the student in the process of performing the specified types and forms of training and received on the exam. The maximum distribution is carried out according to the following algorithm: 60 points (60%) - semester control and 40 points (40%) - exam.
