The course provides an overview of the main stages of the Persian language’s development from ancient times to the modern era; it highlights the phonetic, lexical, and grammatical features of Old Persian, Middle Persian, and New Persian based on texts from the respective periods. The course consists of two main sections. The first section is devoted to examining the historical and cultural context of the Old Persian language, introducing its phonetic and lexical-grammatical features, and analyzing the specific characteristics of the texts of the Behistun Inscription. The second part provides information on the Middle Iranian and New Iranian linguistic periods. The lexical and grammatical features of the Middle Persian and New Persian languages are analyzed in comparison with the Old Persian language. The course includes the reading and analysis of texts belonging to the respective periods.
