Learning outcomes
PLO 1. To communicate freely on professional issues with specialists and non-specialists in national and foreign languages orally and in writing, use them to organize effective intercultural communication. PLO 8. Know and understand the language system, the general characteristics of literature as a verbal art, the history of the Persian language and literature, and be able to apply this knowledge in professional practice. PLO 9. Characterise the dialectal and social varieties of the Persian language, and describe the sociolinguistic situation. PLO 10. To be familiar with the norms of literary Persian and English and be able to apply them in practical work. PLO 14. Use the Persian and English languages in spoken and written form, across various genres, styles and registers of communication (formal, informal, neutral), to solve communicative tasks in the everyday, social, educational, professional and academic spheres of life.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastery of phonetic material and the principles of rhythmic division of the sound stream, as well as the patterns of stress; proficiency in the rules for the written representation of sounds and sound combinations in the Persian language; knowledge of basic grammatical phenomena, and proficiency in lexical and idiomatic material within the scope of the topics covered by the syllabus.
Course content
The aim of the course is to equip students with knowledge of modern standard Persian within the framework of normative grammar, to develop their ability to converse in Persian on the topics covered, to comprehend spoken Persian, and to read, write, formulate and express their thoughts correctly in Persian. The course ‘Persian: Advanced Level’ focuses on teaching the professional use of the Persian language, i.e. the correct use of the language in terms of norms and style, and its situationally and contextually appropriate use as a means of oral and written communication within the topics covered by the syllabus. The course forms part of the comprehensive course ‘Practical Course in Persian’. Teaching takes the form of practical sessions, with independent study also required. The course concludes in the fifth semester with an examination and in the sixth semester with a test.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Practical sessions, independent study, assessments: two module tests (2 hours each) and a final test. Final assessment: the semester concludes with a final exam. Grammar-based methods: study of complex compound sentences (purpose, condition) and formal style.
Assessment methods and criteria
Assessment is based on a two-tier system: theoretical knowledge (40%) and practical skills (60%) 5th semester (Exam): Oral responses (4 sessions) — max. 20 marks. Written assignments/tests (4 sessions) — max. 20 marks. Module tests (2 MTS) — max. 20 marks. Exam (written and oral) — max. 40 marks. 6th semester (Assessment): Oral responses (6 sessions) — max. 30 marks. Written assignments/tests (6 sessions) — max. 30 marks. Module tests (2 MTs) — max. 20 marks. Final assessment — max. 20 marks. Assessment criteria (scale) 5 marks: complete command of vocabulary and grammar, fluent reading, translation and retelling of the text without errors. 4 marks: sufficient knowledge, but with minor errors (3 spelling or 2 grammatical). 3 marks: knowledge of the basics without depth, significant errors in reading or translation. 1–2 marks: lack of mastery of the material, a large number of serious errors. Summary: The minimum mark required to pass is 60.
