Learning outcomes
PLO7. Understand the main issues in philology and approaches to solving them using appropriate methods and innovative approaches. PLO 8. Know and understand the structure and history of the Russian language and be able to apply this knowledge in professional practice. PLO 10. Know the norms of the Russian literary language and be able to apply them in practical work. PLO 12. Analyze linguistic units, determine their interactions, and characterize the linguistic phenomena and processes that determine them. PLO14. Use the Russian language in spoken and written forms, across various genres, styles, and registers of communication (formal, informal, neutral), to solve communicative tasks in the everyday, social, educational, professional, and scientific spheres of life.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of linguistics. Successful completion of the following Russian language courses taught during the first and second years of study: “Modern Russian: Phonetics,” “Modern Russian: Lexicology,” and “Practical Course in Russian.”
Course content
The aim of the course is to equip international students with theoretical knowledge of the systemic relationships within the syntax of modern Russian; to develop their ability to analyze sentences of various structures in Russian; and, based on their knowledge of the structure and semantics of Russian sentences, to understand and construct them independently. The course familiarizes students with the main units of the syntactic system of modern Russian, develops their skills and abilities to analyze syntactic structures based on the components of each unit, as well as to distinguish between simple and complex sentences and identify types of syntactic relationships between sentence and text components.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, practical sessions, independent study. Teaching methods: problem-based learning, inquiry-based learning, theoretical-practical methods, and conscious-practical methods. Illustrative methods. Observation method, analysis of the syntactic system of the Russian language. Independent work with scientific literature, textbooks, lecture notes, scientific discussion, analysis of contemporary processes in the syntactic system of the Russian language.
Assessment methods and criteria
Oral responses, written homework assignments, independent study, and modular exams. Specific grading criteria are outlined in the course syllabus.
