Learning outcomes
PLO 1. Communicate fluently on professional matters with specialists and non-specialists in both the national language and Russian, both orally and in writing, and use these skills to facilitate effective intercultural communication. PLO 2. Work effectively with information: select necessary information from various sources, critically analyze and interpret it, organize, classify, and systematize it. PLO 9. Characterize dialectal and social varieties of the Russian language, describe the sociolinguistic situation. PLO 10. Know the norms of the Russian literary language and be able to apply them in practical activities. PLO 11. Know the principles, techniques, and methods for creating oral and written texts of various genres and styles in the state language and Russian. A complete list of PLOs is available in the syllabus.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful completion of the theoretical and practical Russian language courses taught during the previous years of the bachelor’s program (“Practical Russian Grammar,” “Practical Russian Phonetics,” “Fundamentals of the Theory of Linguistic Communication,” “Guided Reading of Academic Texts,” “Oral Communication,” “Practical Course in Russian,” “Modern Russian (Lexicology. Morphology. Word Formation).” 2. Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of linguistics.
Course content
The aim of the course is to provide international students with a comprehensive understanding of the functional capabilities and stylistic differentiation of the Russian literary language, the systematic criteria for stylistic language units, and how their selection is influenced by extralinguistic factors. The course is designed to develop skills in the appropriate use of stylistic resources of the Russian language, the ability to identify stylistic features of linguistic units in texts of all functional styles, and to construct stylistically polished texts. The practical tasks of the course are designed to enrich the vocabulary of international students on various topics that are relevant and necessary for their further development as specialists, and to reinforce various grammatical and syntactic constructions of the Russian language characteristic of each style.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, practical sessions, independent study. Teaching methods: explanation of new material, discussion, independent study using academic and reference materials, completion of oral and written assignments. Independent study using academic materials, gathering and analyzing information for the translation of texts in various styles and genres, and analysis of mistakes made.
Assessment methods and criteria
Oral responses, participation in discussions, written stylistic analysis of texts, and modular exams. Specific grading criteria are outlined in the course syllabus.
