Learning outcomes
PLO 2. Work effectively with information: select the necessary information from various sources, critically analyze and interpret it, organize, classify and systematize it.

PLO 8. Know and understand the language system, the general properties of literature as an art of the word, the history of English and two Western European languages and literatures being studied, and be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities.
PLO 13. Analyze and interpret works of Ukrainian and English-language fiction and oral folk art, determine their specifics and place in the literary process.
PLO 15. Carry out linguistic, literary and special philological analysis of texts of various styles and genres.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastery of the previous parts of the course History of Foreign Literature
(parts 1-5).
2. Knowledge of the basic terms and concepts of Ukrainian-language and English-language
literary studies.
3. Possession of skills in applying methodologies of the main schools
of literary analysis and interpretation of the text.
Course content
The course introduces students to the development of English-language literature of the first half of the 20th century (until 1945), in particular Edwardian literature, the literature of the Modernist era with its trends, as well as alternative paths of development of contemporary English-language literature. The course reveals the change in the ideological and aesthetic principles of creativity in the literature of Modernism, emphasizes the cardinal shifts in philosophical and scientific thinking, the form and content of works, and illustrates the aspiration of artists of the word to create a new "artistic language". Students become acquainted with a number of trends, genres, narrative techniques, in particular the flow of associations and the stream of consciousness, characteristic of the corresponding stages of the development of the literary process during this period. During the study of the course, students continue to form general skills of literary and critical analysis and the ability to independently interpret literary texts.

Planned learning activities include: written analysis of a literary work, test.
Assessment methods and criteria
During the semester, lectures and practical classes are held on the relevant topics, which are evaluated in accordance with the types of work and forms of control (written analysis of a literary work, test).
Students who have scored less points in total than the critical minimum - 36 points - are not allowed to take the exam. For students who have not reached the minimum threshold level of assessment during the semester, a final semester test is held at the end of the semester, which includes tasks of a theoretical and practical nature. The maximum score for additional forms of assessment cannot exceed 40% of the maximum total amount of points for the semester - 24 points. The semester final grade is formed by the points received by the student during the semester and the points received on the exam, the maximum distribution is carried out as follows: 60 points (60%) - semester control and 40 points (40%) - exam).
