Prerequisites and co-requisites
- to know the current problems of modern English studies, the methodology of scientific research on the English language, the principles of academic integrity;
- to be able to work with educational and scientific information in the field of English philology, process it, make generalizations and conclusions about linguistic and speech phenomena, formalize the results of scientific research in accordance with current rules and norms;
- to have basic skills in scientific research and structural and systemic analysis of professional literature.
Course content
The purpose of writing and defending the bachelor's thesis is to establish the actual compliance of the level of educational and qualification training of the graduate with the requirements of the educational and qualification characteristics of the specialty (direction of training). Bachelor paper involves conducting independent research in the field of linguistics. The work is aimed at testing professional knowledge in the subject area and is designed to finally identify the level of mastery of specialists receiving a bachelor's degree, of the knowledge of English philology, as well as skills of linguistic analysis of language material. The bachelor paper tests and confirms the ability to perform linguistic analysis of a variety of language material using the latest research methods.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Preparation of the work includes stages of selection and approval of the topic, consultation with the supervisor, collection of material, elaboration of sources and scientific theoretical, methodological and critical literature, drawing up a plan, writing a work, appropriate design and defense.
Assessment methods and criteria
The evaluation for writing a bachelor's thesis consists of three components: 1) evaluation of the supervisor, who fills in the response form of the supervisor in accordance with the evaluation criteria (10% of the evaluation); 2) evaluation of the reviewer who fills in the review form in accordance with the evaluation criteria (45% of the evaluation);
3) grades for the defense of the thesis (45% of the grade), which is issued by the attestation commission and entered in the final evaluation sheet, which also contains the overall grade as an arithmetic whole of three components (100%). The paper is submitted to the attestation commission in writing according to the approved form together with other accompanying documents: review of the supervisor and review. Public defense of the thesis takes place in the form of presentations using various forms of report visualization.
