PTR 7. To understand the main problems of philology and ways to solve them using appropriate methods and innovative approaches. PTR. 8. Know and understand the language system, the general properties of literature as an art of the word, the history of the Ukrainian language and literature, and be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities. PTR 9. To characterize the dialectal and social varieties of the Russian language and to describe the sociolingual situation. PTR 10. Know the norms of the Ukrainian literary language and be able to apply them in practical activities.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful completion of the course of practical phonetics of the Ukrainian language, taught in the first year of study in the educational program "Ukrainian Language and Translation (for Foreigners)" in the bachelor's degree.
Course content
Modern Ukrainian Language. Phonetics" is a basic professional discipline for foreign students majoring in Ukrainian Language and Translation (for Foreigners). The subject of the course is the phonetic, phonological, accentual and intonational systems of the modern Ukrainian literary language. The aim of the discipline is to master the sound system of the modern Ukrainian language (sounds, sound types, phonemes, accents, intonation structures, syllable types), automate speech skills based on an awareness of the peculiarities of the articulation base, systemic phonetic phenomena of the Ukrainian language and the regularities of sound processes and intonation contours in speech.
