Learning outcomes
PRN1. Communicate fluently on professional matters with specialists and non-specialists in Ukrainian, Belarusian, English, Czech and Polish, both orally and in writing, and use these languages to facilitate effective intercultural communication. PRN9. Characterise dialectal and social varieties of the Belarusian, Ukrainian, English, Czech and Polish languages, and describe sociolinguistic situations. PRN10. Be familiar with the norms of standard Belarusian, Ukrainian, English, Czech and Polish, and be able to apply them in practical situations. PRN12. Analyse linguistic units, determine their interaction and characterise the linguistic phenomena and processes that determine them PRN14. Use Belarusian, Ukrainian, English, Czech / Polish in spoken and written form, in various genres, styles and registers of communication (formal, informal, neutral), to solve communicative tasks in the everyday, social, educational, professional and scientific spheres of life.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Prerequisites for undertaking or selecting this course: possess basic skills in the analysis and interpretation of language at all levels of its structure in accordance with secondary school curricula – phonetic, morphological, lexical, phraseological, syntactic and stylistic – taking into account the view of language as the most important means of human communication and an indispensable feature of an ethnic group and a nation.
Course content
The course ‘Belarusian Orthography, Spelling and Pronunciation’ forms part of the comprehensive course ‘Modern Belarusian Language’. It is designed to provide a sound theoretical grounding in the field of Belarusian orthography, spelling and phonetics, specifically to familiarise students of Belarusian studies with the specific features of Belarusian pronunciation and writing. During the course, students learn to apply theoretical knowledge in practice through speaking and writing, listening and reading in the Belarusian language, and develop basic spelling and punctuation skills. The course consists of two content modules: theoretical and practical, and includes two module assessments. Classes are conducted in the form of lectures and practical sessions using interactive teaching methods. The course concludes with a test.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures and practical classes, guidance of independent work and monitoring of its implementation, individual consultations,assessment .
Assessment methods and criteria
After the lectures, practical classes are held on relevant topics, at which the planned types of work and forms of control are evaluated: oral presentation (max. 5), essay/essay (max. 10), additions, participation in the discussion (max. 3), presentation ( max. 6), modular control work (max. 15). During the semester, written works are checked, individual consultations are held, and the level of assimilation of the material assigned for independent study is assessed. The final grade is assigned based on the results of the student's work during the semester and the oral answer on the exam. The minimum positive number of points to receive "satisfactory" is 60 points.
