Full-time form

Know: 1) translation methods and techniques; 2) lexical, grammatical, syntactic, and stylistic issues in translation. Be able to: 1) organize the translation process: use dictionaries and online resources. Possess: 1) teamwork skills; 2) an awareness of the need for continuous professional development.

The comprehensive course «Translation (Turkish) Part 6: Translation Project Management» is included in the list of required courses and is taught in the eighth semester of the Bachelor’s program - in accordance with the curriculum of the educational and research program «Turkish Language and Literature and Translation, English». The course is an integral part of developing the professional and practical competencies of future translators. The course aims to provide the necessary knowledge and develop the skills required for organizing and managing translation projects in various fields of translation (audiovisual translation, literary translation, etc.), coordinating the work of a team of specialists, and ensuring translation quality in accordance with international standards (International Standard ISO 17100:2015 and others) and STTU APU 001-2000 of the Association of Translators of Ukraine dated March 29, 2003. The program aims to equip students with a comprehensive set of knowledge and skills in planning, organizing, implementing, structuring, and dividing translation projects into phases, managing a translation agency, meeting deadlines, and working in a team. Students are expected to master methods for organizing the work of translation teams. This course builds upon the foundation laid by other courses («Translation Practice» and «Fundamentals of Translation Theory»); its aim is to deepen students’ understanding of the specifics of translation work, the creation and implementation of translation projects, quality control, and the development of teamwork skills. The development of practical skills in mastering professional technologies is achieved through the selection of optimal forms and types of classes that most closely resemble the future work of translators. The course includes the creation of a translation project. It is taught over the course of one semester and concludes with an exam.

Practical classes, individual work.

Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level assessment of the material learned, in particular, an assessment of theoretical training, which accounts for 40% of the total grade, and an assessment of practical training, which accounts for 60% of the total grade. Assessment of semester work: 1. Control work: 6 - 10 points. 2. Translation project: 9 - 15 points. 3. Oral interview: 6 - 10 points. 4. Creating a glossary: 3 - 5 points. 5. Report on errors in the project: 3 - 5 points. 6. Preparation of project stages: 9 - 15 points. 7. Exam: 24 - 40 points.
