Prerequisites and co-requisites
Knowledge: 1) Successful completion of the following courses: the interdisciplinary courses «Scientific Worldview», «Practical Course in a First Eastern Language», «Fundamentals of Translation Theory» and the interdisciplinary course «Translation Practice»; 2) types of translation strategies and transformations; methods of proofreading and editing texts of various genres and styles. Be able to: 1) analyze the source text in the original language and synthesize a new translation text in Turkish and Ukrainian; 2) use modern search engines, machine translation systems, and electronic and print reference resources; 3) conduct editorial analysis of written texts of various functional orientations. Master: 1) translation studies terminology and methods of textual analysis in translation; 2) the normative framework for editing; 3) methods and techniques for editing authentic and translated texts of various functional purposes.
Course content
«Communication and Translation Internship» is a mandatory component of the structural and logical framework of the educational program «Turkish Language and Literature, English Language and Translation», as well as a means of demonstrating the practical skills acquired. During the internship, students develop skills in the practical application of professional knowledge and competencies acquired during their studies to successfully solve tasks in the field of translation and editing, specifically: conducting linguistic analysis and translation of texts; editing Crimean Tatar and Ukrainian-language authentic and translated texts; ensuring lexical, stylistic, and semantic equivalence of the translation to the author’s original; performing orthographic, lexical-semantic, stylistic, and grammatical proofreading of Crimean Tatar and Ukrainian-language texts. The internship is organized in accordance with the Regulations on Academic and Professional Internships of the Institute of Philology. The Communication and Translation Internship is conducted in the fourth year for students in the Bachelor’s program, consists of 240 hours, and is worth 8 credits (off-campus). The communication and translation internship includes the following stages: an introductory conference, familiarization with the internship site, completion of the internship, preparation of a report, demonstration of acquired knowledge in the form of an oral presentation, a final conference, and other activities, followed by a summary of results.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Developing a personalized study plan; consulting with staff at the internship site; completing a written translation that meets the client’s requirements (full, selective, summary, abridged, descriptive); editing and summarizing texts of various genres and styles; compiling a glossary (at least 300 words).
Assessment methods and criteria
Evaluation of semester work: 1. Planning and conducting an interview (respondent of your choice): 6 - 10 points. 2. Analysis, editing, translation (stylistic, interpretation) of the text: 2 - 5 points. 3. Participation in a webinar, conference, open lecture, presentation: 2 - 5 points. 4. Operational work (entering texts into the CTM corpus): 10 - 15 points. 5. Writing an essay on the topic (in accordance with the IP), evaluation of teamwork on solving the problem: 3 - 5 points. 6. Preparation of an analytical report (in accordance with the IP), creation of information messages, writing press releases: 2 - 5 points. 7. Creative task (writing a script for a thematic event, developing a quest, test tasks): 3 - 5 points. 8. Processing (selection, bibliographic analysis, writing an annotation to the source) of methodological literature for a bachelor's project: 8 - 10 points.
