Knowledge: 1) Successful mastery of specialized subjects during previous semesters. Skills: 2) Ability to apply knowledge of the phonetic rules, grammatical structures, and syntactic rules of the Turkish language in practice; Competencies: 1) Skills in oral and written translation.
Course content
The course «Turkish Language» is a required component of the educational and research program «Turkish language, literature and translation, english language»; level of study: first (7th semester; total of 60 hours, including 30 hours of practical classes and 30 hours of independent study). This course develops the main types of language activities in Turkish: reading, speaking, writing, and listening; as well as students’ communicative language competencies: perception and comprehension of basic spoken discourse, the ability to communicate on topics specified by the curriculum, text comprehension, and the ability to reproduce what has been read. The aim of the course is to enable students to master various types of language activities in practice, that is, to freely use dialogic and monologic speech within the topics covered throughout the entire period of studying this course; reading and understanding texts in scientific, literary, official-business, and socio-political styles; developing written communication skills and gradually shifting the focus from the formation of speech skills to the development of language proficiency. The course concludes with a midterm module assessment.
