Prerequisites and co-requisites
Know: 1) Possess knowledge, abilities, and skills in social sciences and humanities disciplines, such as “Introduction to University Studies,” etc. 2) The basic categories and concepts related to human and social life. Be able to: 1) identify and analyze educational and scientific information, and draw well-founded conclusions regarding professional activities. Possess basic skills: 1) drafting written documents, revising their content, organizing materials necessary for work, and effectively managing one’s own academic activities.
Course content
The course «Selected topics in labor law and the fundamentals of entrepreneurship» is part of the professional training for Bachelor’s degree candidates in the educational and professional program «Turkish language and literature and translation, english language» at the educational and Scientific institute of philology of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and is taught in the seventh semester - in accordance with the curriculum for the specific educational program. The course explores the constitutional foundations of the right to work and its main forms. Students study the legal norms governing the procedure for concluding, amending, and terminating an employment contract as the primary form of exercising the right to work. The legal foundations for establishing and regulating basic working conditions are outlined: working hours and rest periods; labor standards and remuneration; occupational safety and labor discipline. The grounds and procedure for holding an employee legally liable for failure to perform or improper performance of their job duties (disciplinary liability, financial liability) are discussed. The legal foundations for the protection of labor rights in Ukraine are analyzed. The course provides students with the economic, institutional, and organizational foundations of entrepreneurial activity and is aimed at equipping students with knowledge and basic practical skills regarding the economic nature of entrepreneurship, its forms, and planning; innovative entrepreneurship; technologies for starting a business; state regulation of entrepreneurship; and the commercialization of scientific developments.
