Course content
The bachelor’s thesis is part of the research component of the educational program and serves as a comprehensive summary of students’ research work, aimed at deepening specialized skills and innovative knowledge, the analytical and creative application of this knowledge, and the generation of new knowledge to address current challenges in the field of Turkology. The preparation of a bachelor’s thesis involves the following stages: selecting and approving a topic, consulting with an academic advisor, gathering materials, analyzing sources and relevant theoretical, methodological, and critical literature, drafting an outline, writing the thesis, formatting the thesis according to requirements, and defending it. The thesis is submitted to the examination committee in written form using the approved template, along with other supporting documents: an abstract (a concise summary of the general characteristics and main content of the thesis); a review by the academic advisor; and peer reviews. The public defense of the bachelor’s thesis takes the form of a presentation using various visual aids (presentations, tables, figures, etc.) and technical equipment (slides, multimedia projectors, audio and video equipment, computers, etc.). During the public defense, the supervisor’s review and the peer review of the bachelor’s thesis are announced, and the student answers questions from the committee members and addresses the reviewer’s comments. The bachelor’s thesis is graded on a 100-point scale, taking into account the total points awarded by the academic advisor, the reviewer, and the examination committee in accordance with the approved grading criteria. The bachelor’s thesis verifies and confirms the ability to conduct linguistic analysis of diverse linguistic material using the latest research methods.
