Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know the norms of the Ukrainian literary language, differentiating features of texts of different styles. 2. Be able to identify texts that need editing. 3. Possess basic skills of linguistic text analysis.
Course content
The discipline "Ukrainian Language: Fundamentals of Editing" is the first part of the complex discipline "Ukrainian Language and Literature"; it is taught in the 1st year of the bachelor's degree in the amount of 2 credits EST8: 30 hours of practical work, 30 hours of independent work. The course provides scientifically sound methodological foundations of editing, criteria for functional analysis of language, and a clear understanding of the functional styles of the Ukrainian literary language. Based on a set of theoretical knowledge on the basics of editing, skills of practical use of methods of working with the text, its structure, language and style design and the ability to provide editorial analysis of the author's original, to evaluate the linguistic and communicative component of the text are formed.

Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level assessment of the material learned, in particular, an assessment of theoretical training, which accounts for 40% of the total grade, and an assessment of practical training, which accounts for 60% of the total grade. Assessment of semester work: 1. Answers in the practical class: 15 - 30 points. 2. Work with texts (analysis; editing; creation): 20 - 30 points. 3. Scientific report: 4 - 5 points. 4. Control work: 4 - 5 points. 5. Final control work: 17 - 25 points.
