Knowledge:
Specifics of group interaction in various communities;
Concepts of collective trauma, stress, depression, and social maladaptation;
Dynamics of economic, social, and psychological problems in situations of prolonged decline and rapid societal changes;
Experience of international organizations working with affected communities;
Psychological characteristics of clients in affected and depressed communities;
Specifics of community adaptation, mobilization.
Skills:
Apply acquired theoretical knowledge in practice;
Identify and assess social problems and the needs of clients in affected and depressed communities;
Encourage individuals toward positive life changes after long-term social, economic, or cultural pressure by activating internal resources;
Establish productive relationships with community members, considering their personal traits and the specifics of socio-psychological changes;
Identify and evaluate current client issues;
Course content
The aim of the discipline is to prepare future social workers to organize social work aimed at assisting in resolving problem situations of communities facing extreme life circumstances, preventing their social maladaptation, providing psychological support, meeting basic needs, and improving living conditions.
The main objectives of studying the discipline "Social Work in Affected and Depressed Communities" are:
Knowledge and understanding of the subject area and professional activity: mastering the theoretical foundations of understanding the psychological characteristics of clients in affected and depressed communities for the effective organization of social assistance measures;
Developing practical skills and abilities to organize work with representatives of various categories of clients from affected and depressed communities;
Ability to plan and manage time;
Ability to communicate in the state language both orally and in writing

Lecture, seminar, practical tasks, discussion of discussion issues
Assessment methods and criteria
Creative and reproductive self-study assignments – up to 10 points each.
Preparation of reports and essays – up to 10 points each.
Modular test – up to 20 points.
Final assessment (credit/pass) – up to 40 points.
Based on the results of the work during the semester, the student receives a final grade on a 100-point scale, which is calculated as the sum of the accumulated modular grades and the final assessment grade according to the formula: FG = MG + FAG.
To receive a positive overall grade for the discipline, the final assessment grade cannot be less than 24 points.
A student is not allowed to take the final assessment if they have earned fewer than 36 points during the semester.
