Learning outcomes
Know: to know features of both geological-industrial and genetic types of gold deposits; evolution of gold mineralization in time, its role in the general geotectonic evolution of our planet and its basic met-al-bearing structures; features of gold mineralization of structures in Ukraine;
Be able to: to be able to analyze geological materials (geological maps, sections, geochemical and geo-physical data, etc.) for the purpose of identification of prospects for gold mineralization of certain struc-tures and territories; to define geologic and genetic, geologic and economic, geologic and industrial, formational and some other similar types of gold deposits; to establish factors of the control and ex-pected criteria of gold mineralization of different types; to do predictive estimation different rank ob-jects of gold mineralization.
Form of study
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Possession of elementary skills in characterizing genetic and geological-industrial types of mineral de-posits; knowledge of the basics of geotectonics with the basics of regional geology; successful mastery of the theoretical foundations of the processes of mineral deposit formation.
Course content
Problems of geology and gold mineralization of the main Precambrian and Phanerozoic gold-bearing structures are discussed. Typification of gold deposits is done. The main gold-bearing structures and basic genetic types of gold deposits are described. Numerous examples of typical gold deposits are shown. Problems of staging of gold mineralization, its relation with planetary geodynamics are dis-cussed. Aim of teaching discipline: familiarization of students with general features of occurrence and distribution of gold deposits, features of their structure, features of basic tectonic structures of early Pre-cambrian and Phanerozoic with which gold deposits are associated, features of their evolution as geolog-ical basis for metallogenic analysis and predictive estimation of territories. Objects of teaching disci-pline: to familiarize students with genetic typification of gold deposits; to consider evolution of condi-tions of ore formation in geological history of the Earth, features deep structure of ore fields and depos-its. Application possibilities - the acquired knowledge can be used at searches for gold deposits.
