Know: "to know genetic and industrial classification of deposits, their features and problematic aspects; physical and chemical conditions of deposit formation and methods of their studying; features of distri-bution of deposits in geological structures; "to define geological structure and chemical composition of key deposits of metallic and nonmetallic raw materials in the world and Ukraine; perspective genetic and geologic and industrial types of deposits;
Be able to: "To be able to define genetic and industrial types of deposits, their chemical composition; to estimate their importance and possible areas of utilization; to put competently the acquired theoretical knowledge into practice; "to have skills to understand, analyze and investigate ore formation processes in the Earth' crust and on the Earth's surface; understand industrial typification of mineral deposits and economy of mineral raw materials.
Form of study
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Knowledge of geochemistry, mineralogy and other related geological disciplines; possession of infor-mation about deposits and the current state of the world's mineral resource base.
Course content
Discipline acquaints students with the basic processes of origin of mineral deposits, features of their lo-calization, geological structure of deposits of ferrous, non-ferrous, rare, precious and radioactive metals, non-metallic raw materials, physical and chemical conditions of their formation. It gives information about fields of application and requirement to quality of raw materials. The considerable attention is given to typical, reference deposits of the world. Aim of teaching discipline: to acquaint students with conditions of formation of minerals of different genesis and features of distribution in different geological structures. Object of teaching discipline: studying of geological conditions of formation of magmatic, pegmatite, skarn, carbonatite , hydrothermal, weathering, sedimentary and metamorphic groups of deposits as well as also physical and chemical indicators of ore formation. The discipline "Geology of mineral deposits" is basic for further studying of geological, geophysical, geochemical and hydro-geological methods of searches, geologic and economic estimation of mineral deposits, formation meth-od in geological researches, economy of exploration work, management in geology.
