Learning outcomes
PLO 8. Evaluate the historical achievements and latest achievements of literary studies.
PLO 9: Describe the theoretical foundations (concepts, categories, principles, basic concepts
etc.) and applied aspects of the chosen philological specialisation. PLO 11. Carry out
scientific analysis of linguistic and literary material in the New Greek and English languages,
interpret and structure it with due regard to appropriate methodological principles,
formulate generalisations based on independently processed data. PLO 15. To choose
optimal research approaches and methods for analysing a particular linguistic or
literary material.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Knowledge of the basic methods of literary analysis, understanding of the originality of individual
levels of artistry and the need to select methods that best cover them. 2.
Ability to operate with the basic terminology and conceptual apparatus of literary criticism. 3.
Possession of skills of literary analysis, especially the ability to choose the necessary
methodology to analyse a particular literary work.
Course content
The aim of the discipline is to acquaint students with the leading theories of Western theorists
literature. The course aims to introduce a number of key, relevant
literary studies and interdisciplinary methodologies for analysing a work of art.
The course is taught in Ukrainian and provides for a multifaceted and multilevel
analysis of literary texts. Summary of the subject - In the course students
get acquainted with the modern theory of literature and the methodologies developed within it
of analysing a work of art. The subject of the discipline includes an in-depth study of the current
methods of analysing contemporary literary works. Students learn new categories and
concepts related to the theory of literature.
