Learning outcomes
PLO 8. Evaluate the historical achievements and latest achievements of literary studies.
PLO 9: Describe the theoretical foundations (concepts, categories, principles, basic concepts
etc.) and applied aspects of the chosen philological specialisation. PLO 10. Collect and
systematise linguistic and literary facts, analyse folklore facts, interpret and
translate texts of different styles and genres of Modern Greek and English. PLO 11.
Carry out scientific analysis of linguistic and literary material in Modern Greek and English
languages, interpret and structure it taking into account appropriate methodological
principles, formulate generalisations based on independently processed data. PLO 15.
Choose the best research approaches and methods for analysing a particular linguistic
or literary material.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1) Knowledge of the basic theoretical foundations of literary studies, linguistics and
translation studies; basic information from the courses of linguistic and country studies of Greece and Cyprus; 2)
basic skills in linguistic and literary analysis, Greek at the B2 level.

Course content
The aim of the discipline is to deepen students' knowledge of the peculiarities of the development of modern Greek
literature in the 20th and 21st centuries, to form an idea of the processes that shape the trends of modern Greek literature, the influence of its own tradition, as well as European and world
trends, to consider the original works of contemporary authors from the standpoint of text linguistics, which will facilitate their introduction to the Ukrainian linguistic culture, both translations and accompanying
materials. Summary of the subject - The course is aimed at understanding
modern trends and originality of modern Greek literature; gives an idea of
the issues, poetics and artistic style of 20th century Greek prose and poetry and deepens
skills of textual, linguistic, cultural and literary analysis of works of modern
Greek fiction. Its subject is the study of the reflection of the patterns of the
of the 20th century literary process in the texts of the most representative representatives of the main
trends and schools of modern Greek literature.

answer, additions, participation in discussion, report-analysis of scientific literature, creative task (essay/review), open-ended test.

The semester number of points is formed by the points obtained for classroom work and for independent work (preparation of a creative task/project). Final assessment: exam - PH 1.1-1.3; PH 2.1-2.3; PH 3.1; PH 4.1-4.2 - 24/40 points. The final number of points in the discipline (60/100 points) is determined as the sum of points for semester work (36/60 points) and the final assessment - the exam (24/40 points).
