Learning outcomes
The student must know the basic provisions on the classification and scope of application of satellite information systems, the basic provisions on the basic principles of organization and construction of modern satellite communication, relay and navigation systems, basic principles of access to satellite network channels, basic hardware elements for the organization of satellite systems, basic principles of construction and problems of existing global, mobile and fixed satellite services. The student must be able to make a comparative characterization of the main satellite systems and networks, reasonably propose the most optimal type and necessary characteristics of a satellite communication channel to solve the task of providing telecommunication services, make a comparative assessment of the possibility and conditions of application based on the main operational characteristics of different types of satellite information systems
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
The educational discipline "Satellite Information Systems" is a mandatory component of the educational program and uses the results of studying the mandatory disciplines "Digital Devices", "Digital Signal Processing", "Computer Technologies", "Digital Circuit Engineering and Electronics", "Reception and signal processing", "Fundamentals of automatic control theory", "Signals and processes in radio engineering". Prerequisites: 1. To know physical phenomena and understand the physical effects that occur during the emission of electromagnetic waves. 2. To know the physical principles of operation of microwave devices. 3. Have basic knowledge of coding and information transmission. 4. To have the skills of mathematical and computer modeling of systems and processes in radio engineering.
Course content
The discipline program examines the principles of construction and operation of various satellite communication services and services, the principles of operation of radio-electronic devices and nodes, on the basis of which the general satellite communication system is created; methods of calculating energy losses during radio signal transmission between ground stations and satellites, which can be used for optimal selection of necessary hardware components to ensure reliable signal reception, etc.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, practical classes, independent individual work.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semester assessment: the academic semester has two content modules. After completing the relevant topics, a written modular test is conducted. To determine the level of achievement of the learning outcomes, the tasks for the modular control work test the ability to solve specific problems from satellite information systems. Mandatory for admission to the exam is writing a modular control paper with a score of at least 12 points for each. Another form of control is the performance of laboratory work. The assessment for the presentation at the seminar and for the students' performance of independent tasks allows to compensate for the shortage of points, excess points are discarded. Final evaluation - in the form of an exam.: The form of the exam is written and oral. A total of 0 to 40 points can be obtained on the exam. The grade for the exam cannot be less than 24 points. A condition for achieving a positive grade for a discipline is obtaining at least 60 points
