Learning outcomes
PLO 2. Process information effectively: collect relevant information from a variety of sources, including professional literature and electronic databases, critically analyze and interpret it, organize, classify and systematize it. PLO 11. Know the principles, technologies and methods of creating oral and written texts of various genres and styles in national and foreign (Spanish and English) languages. PLO 21. Interpret, abstract, annotate and adequately translate (from Spanish, English and Ukrainian) oral and written texts of various styles and genres, except highly specialized ones. PLO 26. Carry out stylistic editing of Ukrainian-language texts. PLO 28.2. Demonstrate the ability to perform written and oral industry translation from Spanish and English into Ukrainian and vice versa.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Have an appropriate level of foreign language proficiency (not lower than B1+), having successfully completed the Spanish language course in the previous semesters (1-4). 2. Possess basic skills of written and oral translation from Spanish into Ukrainian; be able to use dictionaries (monolingual, bilingual, corpus databases, etc.).
Course content
It is a discipline of the student's free choice and is part of the block in the specialization “Specialized Translation and Interpreting (Spanish, English)”. The objective of the course is to teach written and oral translation of contemporary socio-political texts from Spanish into Ukrainian. Lectures delivered in Spanish are aimed at familiarizing students with the peculiarities of contemporary texts on social and political topics and the problems of their translation. Practical classes are aimed at developing skills in analyzing the source text and predicting translation difficulties, as well as the ability to solve lexical, grammatical and stylistic problems of translation in a Spanish-Ukrainian pair.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, practical classes, individual work.
Assessment methods and criteria
Types of work and forms of their control: practical tasks (10 classes): min. 1.8 points, max. 3 points. From 18 to 30 points can be obtained per semester; answers to control questions from lectures: min. 6 points, max. 10 points; creation of a thematic glossary (individual or group project): min. 12 points, max. 20 points. Test: min. 12 points, max. 20 points. Credit is awarded based on the results of the student's work throughout the semester and does not include additional assessment measures. Students who have scored a minimum positive score of 60 points and above (min. 60 - max. 100) receive "passed". Students who have scored less than 60 points in total for the semester must complete the written assignments for which they have arrears (the total amount of completed assignments must be at least 60% of the amount of assignments planned for the semester) and/or write a test translation in order to pass the test.
