Students will receive training sufficient for further study in the educational program in the specialty Applied Physics and Nanomaterials (specialization Physical Electronics), independent study of relevant scientific literature, solving typical problems of this field of science.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
"Statistical Physics" is a discipline necessary for the formation of the professional worldview of a specialist in Applied Physics. Methods of statistical physics are widely used in the teaching of other disciplines, which are studied in the following semesters of bachelor's and master's degree in Applied Physics. As a result of studying the discipline "Statistical Physics" the student will receive training sufficient for further study in the educational program of Applied Physics, study of the necessary scientific literature, solving typical problems that require the using of statistical methods.
Course content
The program of the discipline includes a description of fluctuation phenomena in radio physics, in particular fluctuations in self-oscillating systems and related issues of monochromaticity of self-oscillations and frequency stability, methods of researching statistical phenomena in radio physics, questions about the physical nature and statistical characteristics of noise in radio equipment. On specific examples, the analysis of noise transformation by oscillatory and wave systems with regularly changing parameters and with parameters that change randomly is carried out

Assessment methods and criteria
Control works, tasks for the works out of classes, answers at the final examination are evaluated. The contribution of the different components into the final mark under the condition of successful preparation of all the tasks is: knowledge – up to 50%, scills – up to 35%, communication – up to 5%, autonomy and responsibility – up to 10%.
