Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before starting this course, students should know the main stages and characteristics of the historical and cultural process; basic economic teachings and their values; main methods of researching the peculiarities and specifics of the activity of financial institutions in modern conditions; leading principles of functioning of financial institutions in the context of modern civilizational challenges. Be able to isolate and analyze information about modern practices in the financial sphere; apply terms, categories, classifications of philosophy, economic theory, sociology, finance, banking, insurance, management regarding controversial phenomena and processes in the financial sphere; to find adequate mechanisms for their solution and prevention. Possess elementary skills of information consolidating, namely, to receive and analyze information from various sources and systematically integrate various information resources, form the final information product with maximum completeness.
Course content
This course introduces students to the basic conceptual and categorical framework of ethics, its methods, and tools for identifying moral issues within the context of activities in the financial field. It articulates the reasons for the need to update the ethical foundations in professional practice as a whole and specifically in the financial sector. The course compares the value and normative requirements of major ethical systems with their specific applications in contemporary practices of financial institutions. The subject of professional and corporate ethics is examined, emphasizing the differences, contradictions, and potential conflicts between the value and normative requirements of professional and corporate morality. The course discusses tools for preventing such conflicts and explores various forms and means of enhancing ethical competence among professionals in the financial sector.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The goal of this discipline is to articulate, within the framework of theoretical knowledge, the ethical conceptual and categorical apparatus that enables students to identify moral issues in professional financial activities and make ethical choices in decision-making and the construction of professional strategies within financial institutions. As a result, it aims to contribute to the implementation of a new value paradigm in financial practices based on the idea of voluntary and responsible associative participation.
Assessment methods and criteria
The knowledge assessment is carried out according to the ECTS system, which involves a two-level evaluation of the acquired material. The theoretical evaluation constitutes 40% of the overall grade, while the evaluation of practical preparation constitutes 60% of the overall grade. The semester grade is formed based on the scores obtained by the student throughout the course. The overall grade for the semester is determined by the scores obtained for classroom work (oral presentations, contributions, and participation in seminars), independent work (essays, situational analysis), and the final exam. All types of work throughout the semester have a score range of 48 to 80 points. The final grade for the discipline (maximum 100 points) is determined as the sum of scores for systematic work during the semester, taking into account the final exam.
