Learning outcomes
PRS 6. To use professional arguments to transmit information, ideas, problems and ways of their solving to professionals and non-professionals in the field of economic activity. PRS9. To realize the main features of the modern world and national economy, the institutional structure, directions of social, economic and foreign economic policy of the state. PRS13. To identify sources and understand the methodology of determination and methods for obtaining socio-economic data, collect and analyze the necessary information, calculate economic and social indicators. PRS21. To be able to think abstractly, apply analysis and synthesis to identify the key characteristics of economic systems of various levels, as well as the peculiarities of their subjects' behavior. PRS22. To demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in new situations, in working with new objects and in uncertain conditions.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
To understand the methodology of macroeconomics and microeconomics, as well as the principles of institutionalism and neo-institutionalism. To be able to work with statistical data and foreign-language scientific literature.
Course content
Course «Ukraine in the European Space» aims to study the development of various social processes in Ukraine in comparison with European societies. The structure of the course includes 10 topics on actualization of the interaction between economics and sociology; social classes, socio-class divides; underclass, precariat, twixters; poverty; «Economics of Happiness»; social networks; the COVID-19 pandemic; volunteer practices; religion, religiosity, faith, modernization, «religious markets»; migration. The course focuses on developing students' skills in working with sociological data that can qualitatively complement economic statistics and analyze economic processes taking into account their social and cultural components: typical needs, motivations, problems, values, attitudes, meanings, norms, rules, stereotypes, lifestyles, etc. The classes aim to develop sociological sensitivity, analytical and critical abilities; and involve both individual and group work.

Lecture. Seminar. Independent work.
Assessment methods and criteria
Individual and group work in seminar sessions: min. 48 points / max. 80 points. Individual and group work in seminar sessions is assessed during the actual conduct of classes. The points for successful seminar work accumulate throughout the semester. Final control work: min. 12 points / max. 20 points. The final control work is performed by students after studying the last topic as part of independent work and is presented to the group during the last four seminar sessions
