Learning outcomes
As a result of studying the discipline "Operations Research", the student will receive training sufficient for further study under the educational program "Network and Internet Technologies", independent study of the necessary scientific literature, solving typical problems. The student should know the basic concepts and terms of operations research, the basics of working with the Jupyter Notebook environment, the basic syntax of the Python language, the main types of operations research problems, the basic algorithms used to solve operations research problems. The student must be able to solve typical operations research problems, use modern specialized software modules for writing problem solving code, determine the solution algorithm according to the class of problems, be able to apply evolutionary optimization algorithms to information network design problems.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
To successfully master the discipline "Operations Research", basic knowledge of the basics of mathematical analysis, vector and linear algebra, analytic geometry, differential calculus, discrete mathematics and algorithm theory is required. Fluency in modern methods of developing programs and software complexes.
Course content
The discipline "Operations Research" includes methods of mathematical programming and optimization, as well as methods of using modern software tools to solve typical problems. This course outlines the basic principles of the theory of deterministic linear and nonlinear programming; methods of numerical search for extrema of functions; methods of integer programming; game theory; genetic algorithms and evolutionary optimization. The main tasks of the "Operations Research" discipline are the acquisition of knowledge, abilities and skills (competencies) in accordance with the "master's" qualification in specialty 172 "Telecommunications and radio engineering".

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, laboratory, independent work
Assessment methods and criteria
The level of achievement of all the planned learning outcomes is determined by the results of the laboratory tasks and control tasks. The academic semester has four meaningful modules. After completion of lectures #3, #5, #7 and #9, written modular tests are conducted. Mandatory for admission to the exam is: writing modular test papers with a score of at least 5. The final assessment takes place through an exam, the form of the exam is written and oral. The examination ticket consists of 2 questions, the questions are evaluated for 10 points and the task for compiling the program, which is evaluated for up to 20 points. In total, you can get from 0 to 40 points for the exam. A condition for achieving a positive grade for a discipline is obtaining at least 60 points, the grade for the exam cannot be less than 24 points.
