Learning outcomes
the ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of basic facts, concepts, rules and theories related to professional activities aimed at creating conditions for exchanging information at a distance, its processing and storage, including technological systems and technical means that ensure reliable and high-quality transmission, reception, processing and storage of various signs, signals, written text, images, sounds by optical, electrical, radio and other systems, which involves the application of certain theories and methods of the relevant science and is characterized by the complexity and uncertainty of conditions;
be able to determine and apply in professional activity the methods of conducting tests of information and telecommunication networks, telecommunication and radio technical systems for compliance with the requirements of domestic and international normative documents.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
For successful assimilation of the material, the student must have solid knowledge of the normative courses "Higher Mathematics in Information Technology" and "Computer Logic and Discrete Mathematics".
Course content
The course covers such sections as the algebra of events and probabilities, discrete and continuous random variables and their characteristics, distribution laws for discrete and continuous random variables, two-dimensional random variables, the law of large numbers; main concepts of mathematical statistics, sampling method, statistical estimates of distribution characteristics, statistical testing of hypotheses.
The purpose of studying the discipline "Probabilistic Foundations in Information Technologies" is aimed at mastering mathematical probabilistic and statistical methods that allow analyzing and modeling devices, processes and phenomena that a student will encounter in future activities as a specialist, developing students' ability to apply statistical methods for processing input data.
This discipline is the base for studying the main professional disciplines of the educational program "Network and Internet Technologies" such as: "Fundamentals of Information Security", "Systems Theory and System Analysis", "Detection of Information Security Threats", "Computer Networks".

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, practical activities, individual work.
Assessment methods and criteria
The level of achievement of all planned learning outcomes is determined by the results of the student's fulfillment of practical assignments, writing module tests during the semester and passing the exam.
Students are assessed throughout the semester for all types of work. The total score is formed as a weighted sum of points earned by the student. Admission to the exam is the successful (positive assessment) performance by the student of all types of work.
The semester number of points is formed by the points received by the student in the process of mastering the material in all sections of the discipline, the implementation of practical, independent, modular tests provided for by the working curriculum (60 points (60%) - semester control and 40 points (40%) - exam) . The maximum number of points that a student can receive does not exceed 100 points.
