Form of study
Prerequisites and co-requisites
It`s important • to know exploration stages and development of mineral deposits, mining cycle, basic principles of calculation and classification of reserves, mathematical methods in geology. • to have skills in geostatistical data, geological sections, large-scale maps and plans for calculating mineral reserves, spreadsheets and other data sources.
Course content
Within the discipline, there is an acquaintance with the principles and tools of geological and economic assessment of different types of minerals in accordance with the geological and industrial classification of the object and in accordance with legal, economic and environmental space. Peculiarities of application of modern approaches and methods in mineral deposits estimation at different stages of geological study, methods of mineral deposits modeling and their cost estimation on the basis of complex and rational industrial development are studied. The discipline involves not only theoretical study but large-scale consolidation of practical skills of geological and economic assessment and modeling of mineral deposits.

lectures and seminars, written works, graphic and program presentation, independent students' work
Assessment methods and criteria
The semester assessment consists of the following components: • Test 1 on the application of methods and tools of geological and economic assessment of subsoil areas at different stages of geological and technical and economic study - 10 points (limit mark - 6 points); • Test work 2 on the application of methods of valuation of mineral deposits and features of geological and economic assessment for different geological and industrial types of mineral deposits - 10 points (limit mark - 6 points) • Score for work in practical and seminar classes - 40 points (limit mark of 24 points) Final assessment in the form of an exam: maximum score of 40 points, limit score of 24 points. During the exam the student answers three theoretical questions. The exam is conducted in written and oral form. The results of students' activities are evaluated on a 100-point scale.
