Learning outcomes
Know: Interdependence between energy sources of structure formation, processes and structural forms, diagnostic features of primary and secondary forms of geological bodies, types and kinds of geological maps, systematics of symbols, basic geometric methods used in compiling geological maps. methods of statistical processing of results of structural researches, stages of carrying out geological survey works. Be able to: Identify and describe the primary and secondary forms of geological bodies of different genesis in outcrops and geological maps, apply geometric techniques in compiling geological maps and sections, build geological sections, statistically process the results of the study of elementary structural elements.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Availability of a minimum grade (60 points on a 100 scale) for the disciplines "General and Historical Geology", "Topography", "Linear Algebra and Analytical Geometry" or "Higher Mathematics", "Physics".
Course content
Within the discipline, students study the full range of primary and secondary forms of geological bodies. The morphology of structures is considered taking into account the main factors of the stress-strain state, the development of structural paragenesis and patterns of their structure. Students consolidate skills of selection, description and tectonic interpretation of structures in practical classes. Practical classes are grouped into two blocks. The first of them is focused on the development of students' skills in the use of elementary geometric techniques used in geological mapping. The second block is focused on students gaining competencies in reading geological maps and constructing geological sections. The discipline is a necessary component for the successful completion of course work on structural geology and geomapping and comprehensive training practice in geological mapping.

Assessment methods and criteria
The results of students' learning activities are evaluated on a 100-point scale. Final assessment in the form of an exam with a maximum score of 40 points, a milestone score of 24 points. Semester assessment - 60 points, which includes 3 modular tests, each of which is assessed at 10 points (6-point limit) and practical work - 30 points.
