Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. To be able to analyze and find sources of information about international environmental agreements and
determine their role in solving global and regional geoecological problems.
2. To know the essence of global and regional geoecological problems, the main features
functioning of natural geosystems affected by anthropogenic activity;
principles and methods of ensuring balanced development of territories.
Course content
academic discipline "International
environmental agreements" is devoted to an overview of the main international environmental agreements in the field of protection
different geospheres (atmosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere, pedosphere). Attention is focused on
specific international environmental agreements concluded for the purpose of solving global and
regional geoecological problems. The history of ideas, ratification and
implementation of certain international environmental agreements, including Ukraine's, and the current state
fulfillment of contract terms. Shown are the best practices of preserving biodiversity, combating
international environmental crime, trends and threats to the environment from
uncontrolled spread of persistent organic pollutants. The role of the UN is highlighted,
intergovernmental programs and institutions and other related international organizations whose activities
aimed at mitigating global and regional geoecological problems.
