Course content
The study discipline "Fundamentals of hydrology and oceanology" is devoted to the study of the main sections of hydrology (terrestrial hydrology and oceanology); general physical processes in the hydrosphere, its structure, properties; interconnectedness and interdependence of the hydrosphere with the atmosphere, lithosphere; water cycle on Earth; the main physical and geographical patterns of the formation, nutrition and regime of water bodies of various types (rivers, lakes, swamps, glaciers, underground waters) and patterns of processes occurring in the World Ocean; information on the water, thermal, ice regime, the formation of the chemical composition of the Earth's waters, the importance of river waters and their use are provided; mineral, energy and biological resources of the World Ocean, attention is also paid to consideration of important issues - the importance of water in the functioning of ecosystems, monitoring of water pollution on land and the World Ocean, methods of studying and researching water bodies on land and the World Ocean, and modern hydroecological problems.
