            PR04. Conduct research and/or conduct innovative activities in order to obtain new knowledge, develop new methods and procedures in geography and interdisciplinary contexts.
PR06. Apply modern models and information technologies for research and development in the field of geography, nature management, urban and regional development.
PR08. Conduct research on natural and socio-geographic manifestations of the development of geosystems in complex and unpredictable conditions, forecast their development, analyze alternatives, assess risks and likely consequences.

            Course content
        
        
            Know: the differences between the physical and social spaces of society, the main theoretical concepts that explain the concept of space, primarily social; the role and meaning of spatial metaphors in sociology and related sciences; the essence of spatial images and representations and their social meaning; the concepts of private and public space, territories and places, space of action, differences and dialectical connections between globalization, regionalization, localization. Be able to: work with modern scientific literature, critically study the primary source and research results, use analysis methods, compare and evaluate the methodological capacity of different concepts and methodologies for studying social space; organize and present a research project; conduct analytical, research and search activities.

            Planned learning activities and teaching methods
        
        
            Lectures, practical classes (case studies), independent work, writing an extended essay.
        
    
            Assessment methods and criteria
        
        
            Work in lectures and practical classes is evaluated based on the fact of conducting, points are accumulated during the semester.
Tests are performed after studying the thematic block within hours of independent work.
The research task is completed at the end of the semester, the results are presented at the last two practical classes according to the training schedule in the format of a mini-conference.
Final assessment: written exam - 40 points (minimum score for successful passing of the exam - 24 points).
Conditions for admission to the final exam: a student is not admitted to the exam if he scored less than 36 points during the semester; such a student is admitted to the exam on the condition that he writes an abstract work (essay) and a practical task according to the content and scope of the subjects of the discipline that he has not worked on.
