Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Students should know the basics of remote sensing of the Earth, in particular, the physical basics of electromagnetic radiation, the nature and characteristics of optical radiation, the properties and characteristics of images, the classification of images. 2. Be able to search and download space images from various Internet sources. Visually identify objects in pictures based on decipherable features. 3. Have skills in digital processing and automated decoding of aerial photographs.
Course content
In acquiring knowledge and skills in the use, interpretation, and analysis of global data from satellites, land, air, and sea measurement systems. Obtaining information and knowledge in the spheres of the environment, environmental protection and security at different spatio-temporal levels, aimed at the general improvement of the environment and improvement of the quality of life of citizens.
Recommended or required reading and other learning resources/tools

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The discipline contains two content modules. In the first, general issues of the state monitoring system are considered, existing strategic programs for remote monitoring of the environment and emergency situations are analyzed, existing space missions for Earth observation are outlined (Sentinel, Envisat, Landsat, etc.). Atmospheric monitoring, water resources monitoring, geological and land monitoring are considered. The second module provides an outline of tasks, goals, methods of conducting and analysis of existing materials for monitoring environmental ecology, monitoring natural processes, monitoring in the field of security and defense.
Assessment methods and criteria
The level of achievement of all planned learning outcomes is determined by the results of practical, independent, modular control tasks and the exam. The specific weight of learning results in the final assessment, provided that it is mastered at the appropriate level, is as follows: - semester assessment: 1. Modular control work 1: 10 points. 2. Modular control work 2: 10 points. 3. Practical works: 30 points. 4. Independent work: 10 points. Final evaluation: in the form of an exam. Final evaluation: in the form of an exam. The final grade from the educational component, the final form of control of which is the exam, is defined as the sum of grades (points) for all successfully assessed study results of 60 points and the exam of 40 points. Scores below the minimum threshold level are not added to the final score. Mandatory for receiving a positive final grade (60 points and above and "passed") is the completion of all practical work and modular control work.
