Learning outcomes
To provide students with primary knowledge in the field of modern sociology of the city, to familiarize them with the range of its issues, the main approaches to solving social problems; to master basic sociological methods of studying the social components of the city, skills in analyzing and presenting the results of social research

Course content
The discipline provides an introduction to the basics of urban sociology, acquisition of knowledge about the features of social paradigms of urbanism, about the socio-cultural dimension of relations in the context of urban life, about the phenomena of urban communities and the features of urban lifestyle, including the characteristics of types of urban residents; this discipline offers the opportunity to gain experience in both theoretical analysis of current urban problems and allows you to carry out your own empirical research, which contributes to mastering the methods and practical application of the categorical apparatus of sociology in analyzing the data obtained.

Assessment methods and criteria
The course includes 2 content parts. Classes are held in the form of lectures and seminars. The discipline ends with an exam. Semester assessment: the number of points that a student receives during the semester is the sum of the points that were received when evaluating the work in seminars and performing thematic tests. Organization of assessment: Work in seminars is assessed by performance, in accordance with the schedule of seminars. Thematic tests are carried out in the form of a test.
