Prerequisites and co-requisites
1) successful mastery of the disciplines "Introduction to soil science", "Fundamentals of general and historical geology", "Analytical chemistry", "Physics with the basics of geophysics", "Geomorphology", as well as educational practice on the basics of natural and geographical field research (Part 5. "Soil research");
2) skills of field research of soils, relief and geological structure, knowledge of soil research methods.
Course content
The subject of study of the academic discipline "Soil Physics" is the physical properties and processes that take place in the soil. The program of the educational discipline consists of two parts, the first of which is devoted to the study of the physics of the solid phase of the soil, its components, their relationship and influence on soil properties. The second part reveals the issues of hydrophysics and aerophysics of soils, in particular the saturation and circulation of water and gases in the soil, and is also devoted to the issues of thermal and electrophysics of soils and applied aspects of using knowledge of soil physics in general.
The study of the discipline contributes to the formation of knowledge about soils as physical bodies, expansion and deepening of knowledge about physical properties and processes taking place in soils. Mastering the methods of determining the physical properties of the soil and their practical application enables students to determine and analyze the main physical properties and processes that occur in soils, to propose ways and measures to improve their physical condition, to develop ways to minimize degradation processes.

Lectures, practical classes, independent work
Assessment methods and criteria
Surveys in test and written form, modular tests, exam. The final evaluation in the form of an exam is conducted in writing. The maximum number of points on the exam is 40 points, the minimum number of points added to the semester ones is 30 points.
Students who scored a total of less points than the critical calculation minimum - 30 points are not allowed to take the exam. For students who scored a total of less than 30 points (recommended minimum), writing essays on missed or insufficiently mastered topics is a mandatory condition for admission to the credit.
