PR01. Collect, process and analyze information in the field of earth sciences. PR06. Determine the main characteristics, processes, history and composition of the Earth as a planetary system and its geospheres, including the pedosphere. PR07. Apply models, methods and data of physics, chemistry, biology, ecology, mathematics, information technology, etc. when studying the natural processes of the formation and development of the pedosphere. PR10. To analyze the composition and structure of the pedosphere on different spatial and temporal scales. PR12. Know and apply theories, paradigms, concepts and principles in the Earth sciences, in particular in the field of soil science.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
1) successful mastery of such compulsory disciplines as "Geology", "Soil science", "Biogeography"; 2) possession of basic skills of field geological, paleontological and soil science research; 3) knowledge of the modern periodization scheme of the Earth's geological history.
Course content
The course consists of two content modules. The first one is devoted to the study of the set of methods used in research on the evolution of the Earth's biosphere. Concepts of monuments and indicators of the components of the Earth's biosphere and components of ancient nature that influenced its development are considered; the concept of the incompleteness of the paleontological and paleogeographic record as a result of fragmentary sedimentation, selectivity and incomplete preservation of organic remains. The problem of the origin of life, its development in the Archaean and Proterozoic under the influence of changes in the composition of the atmosphere, hydrosphere and climate, as well as its further evolution during the Paleozoic periods under the influence of the processes of development of the earth's crust and climatic changes, the factors of the "great extinction of species" at the turn of the Paleozoic and Mesozoic periods are studied . The second module is devoted to the study of the evolution of biota during the Mesozoic and Cenozoic periods under the influence of the processes of development of the earth's crust and climatic changes, with consideration of the phylogeny of modern genera of plants and animals and with a special emphasis on the last period of the geological history of the Earth - the Quaternary (Pleistocene and Holocene), as well as the study of regularities and trends in the evolution of the Earth's biosphere under the influence of geological and physical-geographical factors.
