Learning outcomes
The objectives of the discipline "Urban Planning and Fundamentals of Urban Planning" are to provide students with general and professional competencies provided for by the educational program "Economic Geography", in particular: in students' acquisition of deep theoretical knowledge on the concepts, strategies and tactics of urban planning, understanding the content of urban planning as a field of theoretical and practical activity, highlighting the historical stages of urban development and the evolution of urban planning ideas, the characteristics of the city as an object of planning and revealing the content of the system of urban planning documentation; independently research and analyze the spatial and temporal parameters of the organization of nature, population and economy and the relationships between them in the system of planning of urban territories and urban planning

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastery of the disciplines "Mathematical and Statistical Methods in Geography", "Geography of Population and Settlement", "Economic Geography", "Urban Geography".
2. Be able to quantitatively and qualitatively analyze the features of natural and social processes in the geographical envelope, develop, manage and control projects of a geographical and interdisciplinary focus, evaluate and ensure the quality of work, be able to carry out a comprehensive assessment and monitoring of resources, predict the development of geographical processes and phenomena;
3. Know the basic principles of organizing urban planning processes, develop and implement mechanisms of urban planning, design and management, monitor urban planning processes, draw up plans and programs for the development of urban areas.
Course content
This academic discipline is dedicated to the study of planning activities at the national, regional and local levels, applying theoretical knowledge and practical skills to ensure urban planning activities. The discipline is aimed at forming in students special professional, social and personal competencies, accumulating knowledge about the possibility of critical thinking, analysis and synthesis, the ability to search, process and analyze information from various sources, the ability to identify, formulate and solve problems in the field of urban planning, the formation and functioning of the urban planning system. Separate components of the discipline are the study of the essence of urban planning as a tool for the development of the urban complex, objects and systems of urban planning, basic concepts and principles of urban planning activities, factors that determine the development and functioning of urban settlements and the formation of their planning structure, types, structure and composition of urban planning documentation and its role in coordinating private, public, state and public interests at various territorial levels.

Assessment methods and criteria
The course includes 2 content blocks. Classes are held in the form of lectures, applied lessons, solving specific problems and situations, and an individual task is performed in the form of a presentation. The discipline ends with an exam. During the semester, after completing the relevant topics, thematic written tests with open questions are conducted. To determine the level of achievement of learning outcomes, students present the results of their individual task and demonstrate the acquired skills. Assessment is carried out throughout the semester for all types of work, including independent work and individual task performance.
