Learning outcomes
To characterize the dynamics, trends, patterns and prospects of economic, social and political processes in the countries of the Global North;
to form the ability of students to apply knowledge in practical situations; to communicate in the state language both orally and in writing; the ability to search,
process and analyze information from various sources; interpersonal interaction skills; the ability to analyze the composition and structure of geospheres (in accordance with specialization) at different spatial and temporal scales; the ability to independently investigate natural materials and statistical data (in accordance with specialization) in field and laboratory conditions, to describe, analyze, document and report on the results; the ability, the ability to identify and classify known and register new objects in the geographical envelope, their properties and processes inherent in them.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Have basic knowledge of economic and social geography of regions and countries of the world. Be able to work with statistical information, educational and methodological and scientific literature. Have elementary skills in analyzing and synthesizing geographical information, comparative geographical analysis, be able to analyze cause-and-effect relationships between processes and phenomena.
Course content
The academic discipline "Geography of the Countries of the Global North" is designed to form in students an idea of the diversity of modern processes and strategies in the development of countries of the world in different regions. The regularities and factors of the territorial organization of society and its components are presented at the level of socio-geographical characteristics of the countries of the Global North. The features of the territorial (international) division of labor, the placement of productive forces within the studied countries, regional policy, territorial organization of production, geopolitics and geostrategy, spatial socio-economic proportions, territorial socio-economic structures, transport and infrastructure networks and systems, as well as settlement systems within the studied countries are considered.

Assessment methods and criteria
The level of achievement of the set learning objectives is determined by the results of written detailed thematic works, speeches at seminar classes with the preparation of presentations, participation in discussions, mastering the main indicators of socio-economic development of the countries of the Global North, as well as knowledge of the economic and geographical minimum on the map and by the results of the exam. The share of learning outcomes in the final assessment, provided that it is mastered at the proper level, is as follows: learning outcomes - 1.1 - 1.9 (knowledge) - up to 55%; learning outcomes - 2 - 2.4 (skills) - up to 35%; learning outcomes - 3 - 3.1 (communication) - 5%; learning outcomes - 4 (autonomy and responsibility) - 5%. The final assessment involves passing an exam. The maximum number of points based on the results of checking the work is 40 points.
